Guardian series 'tobacco, a deadly business' exposes the industry's threat to Africa

The Guardian newspaper is running a series, tobacco, a deadly business, focused on the devastation caused by the tobacco epidemic, which continues to take millions of people’s lives around the world each year.

The series, supported by Vital Strategies, today features several articles looking at how, in the face of effective policies for reducing tobacco use in much of the world, the tobacco industry is moving its deadly trade into African markets. It exposes Big Tobacco’s aggressive work to recruit new smokers in countries across Africa, and reviews efforts to resist this.

The series includes a video explainer ‘the tobacco industry’s march on Africa’
