Tobacco or Health TV returns in 2018

An opportunity to promote your organisation

The International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union) is partnering with international film and broadcasting company, WebsEdge, to bring Tobacco or Health TV to the 17th World Conference on Tobacco or Health (WCTOH) in Cape Town, South Africa from 7-9 March, 2018. This is following the success of The Union’s partnership with WebsEdge at the 16th WCTOH in Abu Dhabi in 2015.

The conference, with its 50-year history, has made significant impact on the progression of global tobacco control measures. The event in 2018 will convene under the theme of ‘Uniting the World for a Tobacco-Free Generation’ and will be the first time the conference has been hosted in Africa. The WCTOH occurs every three years.

Tobacco or Health TV will be an onsite conference television channel featuring a new episode daily, screened around the venue, as well as in selected hotel guest rooms, online and via social media.

This venture serves to raise the visibility of the hard work of advocates, policy makers, researchers, public health and clinical experts in tobacco control and related areas, and provides an opportunity to learn about programmes and initiatives that are making a difference.

Each daily programme has two features: “Thought Leadership” and “Conference News.” Thought Leadership pieces are five-minute sponsored film segments highlighting best practices and research in the field. Conference News is a daily programme of conference highlights, featuring “behind the scenes” interviews, coverage of conference events, and reactions to the day from attendees.

WebsEdge will be reaching out to organisations and institutions to describe the “Thought Leadership” programme in more detail and seek their engagement in creating the five-minute documentary-style films highlighting particular aspects of their project work.

There are a limited number of places available for the five-minute films and there will be a cost to participate. If you would like to explore having a film featured in the programme, please contact Bhavna Patel:
