On Monday 5 March, a Youth Pre-Conference Workshop will be held in the build up to the 17th World Conference on Tobacco or Health for young people from around the world. This event aims to empower young participants by building their leadership and advocacy skills and provide a common networking platform for tobacco control campaigns through exchange and mentorship opportunities.
The full day event will culminate in the creation of a formal declaration, which will be presented to the WCTOH delegates at the opening session, as recommendations from the youth delegates to the global tobacco control community.
Tobacco control experts will lead sessions with the young delegates (aged 18 to 30 years) to guide them on current tobacco control information, working together to envision innovative methods to put an end to tobacco. The afternoon workshop will also highlight the unique challenges posed by trends in tobacco use among young people.
