Registration open for the inaugural Leadership Summit on Tobacco Control

Registration is open for the inaugural Leadership Summit on Tobacco Control, which will be held in 2021.

While the 18th WCTOH, meant to take place in Dublin, Ireland, in March 2021, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Summit serves as an important opportunity to update and unite tobacco control advocates while we are unable to convene in person.

Over the two-day event, attendees will hear from keynote speakers including Mike Bloomberg, founder of Bloomberg Philanthropies, and Stephen Donnelly, Minister of Health for Ireland, and have access to a full programme of sessions under the Summit’s theme of ‘Navigating Change’.

Registration

There are multiple registration options available, including subsidised and sponsored options for students and nurses as well as participants from low and lower middle-income countries.

With your registration, you will have access to the virtual event as well as all of the content produced and presented throughout. You will be able to participate in live sessions and Q&As, access partner areas, as well as recordings of all the sessions until 31 July 2021.

What to expect

The Leadership Summit on Tobacco Control will be a completely virtual, two-day event that will provide a critically needed platform for global, national, and sub-national leaders to share learning and best practices on the most important challenges and opportunities in tobacco control.

The Summit will address the changing political, economic and social landscape of tobacco control. Conversations will focus on the following key topics:

  • Accelerating tobacco control and health financing as a public health priority
  • Navigating tobacco control post-COVID-19
  • Regulating traditional and new tobacco and nicotine products
  • Preventing tobacco industry interference in health and sustainable development

Tobacco control advocates from any background or sector are encouraged to attend and participate in interactive sessions, and delegates will be able to ask questions, participate in moderated live chats and leave comments for the presenters.

Until then

Ahead of the event in May, the 18th WCTOH is hosting a series of open-access webinars. These will run until the Summit, and you are also able to access the recordings of previous webinars in this series.

The full programme and additional speakers will also be released in the coming weeks.
